If you're using shadow passwords with SUSE, I can believe that runDirectLoader
would have problems parsing the passwd file, but if you generated a passwd
file from NIS, that should have got rid of the shadowing. It looks like
runDirectLoader is having problems before it ever gets to that point, though..

| Initializing directLoaderClient object
| ERROR: wound up with a null fieldDef in query optimizer
| Bad login attempt: supergash from host unknown
| Couldn't log in to server. Bad user/pass?

Now, this looks like a serious problem. I'll have to try to do a load with
the linux schema to see if I can figure out what's going on here. My guess
is that 0.98 went out with an invalid ganymede.schema file for the Linux
schema kit, but I'll have to do a bit of work to test that.

I don't think the DNS stuff is related to this problem.. I was keying on
'supergash from host unknown' before, but I checked the source and unknown
is what it puts when there's no client login involved, as in the case
of runDirectLoader, which bypasses the normal login process.

I'll let you know if I figure out anything on this. If anyone else out there
has tried to load passwd and group using the Linux schema with Ganymede 0.98,
I'd appreciate hearing about it.
