Brian, we have now checked this feature in to our Subversion trunk.

We are using the Java 1.4 java.util.prefs API to handle saving client
and admin console GUI settings on the client system. On Windows, it
gets saved in the Windows Registry, and on Unix/Linux/etc., it gets
saved in ~/.java/.userPrefs.

In the Subversion trunk, we are now saving the position of the main
Ganymede client window, the big querybox window, and the main admin
console window. We're also saving the last directory path used in the
'save to disk' option for both individual objects and query results in
the client, as well as the last object type created/opened/searched
for in the various Ganymede client dialogs.

It's easy to save more settings to disk, if you have any further
suggestions for what we should remember. We are not saving the
initial placement for the login windows for the client and console,
since those things pop down now when the user logs in.

 Jon
